Mount Marapi, DD Singgalang – In commemoration of Garbage Care Day, all West Sumatra nature lovers organized an action event to clean up garbage on Mount Marapi. This action was warmly welcomed by the nature-loving community to preserve the mountain from garbage dumped carelessly by climbers.

The target participants who took part in this action were approximately 1000 participants. The whole team really hopes that nature lovers will join with other nature lovers in the action of cleaning up Mount Marapi.
As a form of participation in this activity, of course the Sumbar Dompet Dhuafa Volunteer (DDV) Team was moved to take part in this action activity. With 7 team members on 23/01/2021 at 11.00 WIB, West Sumatra DDV team departed from Padang to BKSDA Mount Marapi.
At exactly 14.00 WIB, they began to climb Mount Merapi to the top while cleaning around the peak of Marapi.
In the afternoon of 24/01/2021, the nature lovers committee evaluated the activities of cleaning up Mount Merapi (team in Cadas). “We managed to collect about 2 tons of waste with other nature-loving communities, and there is still much left in the rocky area.

The collected waste will be put together and thrown into the final disposal site (TPA), “said Eel, a West Sumatra DDV team who participated in the clean-up action.
“Hopefully we can all be more aware of the importance of environmental cleanliness and not littering everywhere. Let’s protect our environment for a better survival,” said Eel.
